A traffic cop has been accused of extorting Rs 100 from a biker, bringing disgrace to the district police. A video of the incident has gone viral in which the cop, who introduces himself as Gurjit Singh, is seen trying to evade a scribe over the issue.

According to information, the cop was checking documents of motorists at Chowk Bohri where he stopped a man to check the registration certificate and other documents of the latter’s bike, bearing registration number (PB46U4087). In the video, the scribe seeks an explaination from the cop over the money he reportedly took from the biker. The video footage also shows the biker confirming that the cop took Rs 100 from him. While the journalist talks to the cop, the latter tries to evade him.

It is not yet clear if he found some discrepancy in the documents of his vehicle or unnecessarily threatened him into coughing up money.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kuldeep Singh Chahal said the police were examining the incident.
