Bathinda, July 27

The District Agriculture Department is organising awareness camps for farmers. Chief Agriculture Officer Bathinda Dr Gurditta Singh said for spreading awareness among farmers growing cotton, 35 teams had been constituted which were going to various villages and making the farmers aware about how to curtail the attack of white fly and others pests on their cotton crop.

“Although the present condition of cotton crop in the district is satisfactory but the farmers need to be on their toes all the more now. Following the directions issued by the Punjab Agriculture University, the farmers should make sure that urea is sprinkled on the cotton crop after irrigation,” he added.

He explained that this was necessary for compensating the shortage of nitrogen in the crop. He also advised farmers to make sure that they should follow the guidelines given by the agricultural experts.
