City athlete wins silver in national meet

BATHINDA: City resident Rajiv Kumar, resident of Bibi Wala Road, brought laurels to the city by bagging the second position in 5-km Walk Race at the 38th National Master Athletics Championship held at Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh from March 24-27.

City resident Rajiv Kumar, resident of Bibi Wala Road, brought laurels to the city by bagging the second position in 5-km Walk Race at the 38th National Master Athletics Championship held at Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh from March 24-27. He received a warm welcome in the city today.

He completed the race in 31.53 minutes time to win the second position in 35-plus age group event. He has also qualified to participate in the International Master Athletics Championship which will be held in China later this year. A total 19 athletes from various states participated in this category event where Rajiv was the only one representing Punjab.
