Div Commissioner holds meeting over appointing booth-level agents

BATHINDA: The Divisional Commissioner, Faridkot Division, conducted a meeting with representatives of different political parties and asked them to appoint booth-level agents (BLAs) so that elections could be conducted in a fair and transparent manner.

The Divisional Commissioner, Faridkot Division, conducted a meeting with representatives of different political parties and asked them to appoint booth-level agents (BLAs) so that elections could be conducted in a fair and transparent manner.

Divisional Commissioner Harjit Singh said BLAs could coordinate well with the government appointed booth-level officers (BLOs) and resolve matters pertaining to voters.

Harjit Singh had a discussion with the representatives and directed the election officers concerned to complete the necessary modalities with regard to elections.

During the meeting, issues regarding new voters, deletion of votes of the deceased, transferring votes of newly married girls form the places of their parents’ home to in-laws home were also discussed.

The Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer, Bathinda, Praneet, and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development)-cum-Additional District Election Officer, Sakshi Sawhney among other administration officials were present during the meeting.

Representatives of political parties included Rajan Garg from the Congress, Gian Chand Bansal from the NCP, Gurdev Sungh Bandi from the CPI (M), Amrit Lal Aggarwal, Baldev Singh and Gurmeet Singh from the Aam Aadmi Party among members from other parties attended the meeting.

Harjit Singh also gave appointment letters to newly appointed 73 patwaris. Addressing the gathering, he called upon the patwaris to perform their duties honestly and diligently.

He said a patwari was the most important employee of the Revenue Department on whom the entire economic structure of the state stands.

Harjit Singh added that the common man too has a lot of expectations from patwaris and they should try their best to fulfil these expectations.
