BATHINDA: The cremation of farmer Tek Singh, a resident of Jiyond village, could not take place after six days of his death. Farmer unions’ protest continued for the sixth day against the state government and the Punjab police.

The cremation of farmer Tek Singh, a resident of Jiyond village, could not take place after six days of his death. Farmer unions’ protest continued for the sixth day against the state government and the Punjab police.

Today, farmer unions’ protest entered the sixth day and the farmers has blocked Bathinda-Chandigarh Highway near Jethuke drain.

The traffic snarls have created from last five days and commuters has been facing lots of problem and traffic has been diverted to villages, which have linked with highway.

On the other side, the commission agents association has been demanding for the dismissal of case against Suresh Bahia commission agent of Rampura Phool and have given ultimatum to Bathinda police for two days and after that they have called a stated level protest in Rampura.

While in the protest of farmers, Shingara Singh Maan, president of Bhartiya Kisan Union (Ugrahaan) has told that police have not in the favour to solve the case and have not giving copy of suicide note to family. He also claimed that diseased farmer has also wrote a letter to Chief Minister.

Various leaders of BKUs have told that if our demands, arrest of commission agent Suresh Bahia and compensation to family of farmer Tek Singh, will not completed, protest will continue. They also not that in next days we will increased the protest to state level.

Tek Singh a resident of Jiyond village, have committed suicide on August 9 and the police of Rampura Sadar police station have booked a commission agent for harassing him on the basis of suicide note.

The situation turned into tense, when commission agent have started protest for dismissal of case against Suresh Bahia, while farmers demanding the arrest of accused.

Commission agents have also met to Deputy Commissioner, Bathinda and now they have given two ultimatum for dismissal of case.

DSP Phool, Jaswinder Singh Chahal have told that traffic has been diverted to villages and we are talking to both parties for the solution of matter.
