BATHINDA: The CIA-2 wing of the police have busted a gang of snatchers that has been active in the city and outside for the last six months.

The CIA-2 wing of the police have busted a gang of snatchers that has been active in the city and outside for the last six months.

Three persons have been arrested while one is absconding. A case has been registered at the Rama Police station under Sections 379B, 379 and 411 of the IPC.

The arrested accused have been identified as Sharanjeet Singh and Sunny Kumar, residents of Rama Mandi, and Happy Singh, a resident of Bangi Deepa village.

The accused on the run has been identified as Lattu, a resident of Rama Mandi village.

Officials of the CIA-2 have recovered Rs 1 lakh, 12 mobile phones, two motorcycles, purse, 24 kg of brass and taps worth Rs 50,000.

SSP Naveen Singla said a CIA-2 team led by sub inspector Tarjinder Singh got a tip off that the above accused had formed a gang.

The police also got information that members of the gang stole cash and material from houses, targeted women and labourers and snatched mobile phones from them.

The accused would sell the material in Dabwali.

The police have booked the accused on the basis of a complaint lodged by SI Jagroop Singh.

The accused were arrested from Sukhladhi-Seikhu road near the refinery, he added.

During investigation, the accused admitted that they were going to sell the stolen material in Dabwali, he added.

Investigating officer Jagroop Singh said investigation was going on and the accused on the run would be held soon.

All three accused would be produced in a court tomorrow. With the arrest, as many as 18 cases of snatching and theft have been solved.
