Heavy downpour and subsequent waterlogging in the past few days have caused much inconvenience to the residents, who are finding it difficult to move around the city. But it has given a fillip to auto repair business as mechanics are swamped with damaged cars and bikes.
When water enters the car engines, it gets damaged, forcing its owner to approach a mechanic for repair. Vehicle owners are ready to receive these services even at prices higher than normal. Normally, car drivers desist from the use of cars on waterlogged roads, but some forget to keep this in mind or are forced to hit the road due to important work. This eventually forces them to dip into their pockets.
Car and bike washers are delighted over incessant rains as waterlogging on various roads have left the residents with no option but to get their vehicles washed regularly from them.
A mechanic on GT Road said, “When it rains, we get a large number of customers. Motorcycle and car drivers come all the time during the rainy season because they have to move around the city, even when conditions are not suitable for vehicles.”
Kaku, the owner of Dhiman car shop, said, “Car owners have no choice, but to get their vehicles, dirted by muddy waters, washed regularly. If customers request cleaning with just water, they are charged less.”
Jaskeerat, a resident of Civil Lines, said, “Residents have been facing tough conditions. One cannot take out one’s vehicle outside. If we try to wade through the waters, the vehicle engine gets damaged.
