Bathinda, May 19

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has adjourned the hearing on a petition filed by the civic body reviewing door-to-door garbage collection work to July 10.

The hearing was held on Friday and officials of the civic body were ready with their views.

The hearing was adjourned because the JITF company’s advocate did not appear before the NGT. However, the civic body has submitted its reply to the NGT through its advocate.

Earlier, the civic body said as per the agreement with the JITF company, it was decided to conduct the door-to-door garbage collection work for a long time, but now the company was running away from its commitment.

The civic body had said by refusing to conduct the work, the company had violated the agreement rules.

The company was of the view that in other parts of the state, the tipping fee was from Rs 900 to Rs 1,300, but here, the civic body was paying only Rs 366 per tonne.

After hearing the pleas, the NGT had given some time to resolve the issue and asked them prepare a plan, but parties failed to reach a conclusion on the issue.
