Bathinda, July 6

While members of the Para Medical Health Employees Association (Pharmacists) continued to hold a protest rally on the second consecutive day at the Civil Hospital, member of the PCMS Association (doctors) said the former were resorting to dent the doctor-patient relation.

Raising slogans against Health Department officials during the rally, members of the association demanded immediate action against erring doctors and senior officials of the department.

Pharmacists have been demanding action against a few doctors at the Civil Hospital who allegedly prescribe medicines giving brand names and most of which are not available at the government-run pharmacy, thereby forcing patients to buy these on exorbitant prices from private chemist shops.

Meanwhile, the PCMS Association issued a press release stating that doctors of the Civil Hospital accepted that they prescribe many medicines that were available at private shops, but they were compelled to do so as these were not available at the government hospital.

The release also stated that the PCMS Association members demanded from the Health Department to provide all government hospitals with good quality medicines so that no patient is compelled to buy medicine from outside.
