Bathinda, July 19

Chaos was witnessed today in front of the property tax money deposit counter at the Municipal Corporation office as a there was a technical snag in a computer.

Residents had to wait for three-four hours in the sultry weather.

Annoyed residents entered the Mayor’s office and alleged that property tax officials misbehaved with them.

They claimed that they were senior citizens and had been waiting for the last three hours to pay the tax but officials asked them to come tomorrow.

They said they asked for manual receipts as the computer was not working.

Moreover, tomorrow is the last date of paying their pending property tax of previous years or their name would appear in the defaulters’ list, they added.

SAD councillor and F&CC member Nirmal Singh Sandhu, who was sitting there, immediately called superintendent of the property tax branch Makhan Lal and told him to start issuing manual receipts.

While talking to Bathinda Tribune, Makhan Lal said this morning they witnessed networking problem due to which they were not able to issue computerized receipts but the issue was resolved after lunch.

He said they were witnessing huge rush of the property tax payers as many notices had been issued.
