Public hearing for expansion of IOC unit on June 20

BATHINDA: Public hearing for the expansion of the petroleum product storage capacity of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) will be held at the main gate of its office at Phoos Mandi, Mansa Road, Bathinda, on June 20.

Public hearing for the expansion of the petroleum product storage capacity of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) will be held at the main gate of its office at Phoos Mandi, Mansa Road, Bathinda, on June 20.

Giving this information here on Tuesday, District Magistrate Diprava Lakra said the district administration, Bathinda, and the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) will together conduct this event wherein people can present their objection regarding the expansion of project.

He added that the company has given application for increasing its petrol terminal capacity from 72, 687 kilo liters to 1,50, 207 kilo liters. Under expansion project, company will be laying tanks for ethanol and other chemicals. He said that as per the rules, the company has to seek environmental clearance before commencing with the project for which public hearing is being conducted.

The entire public hearing procedure will be videographed.

Besides this attendance of all the people present at the hearing will be registered. The proceedings of hearing will later be put up at concerned panchayat ghar, zila parishad, office of District Magistrate and Punjab Pollution Control Board office.
