NEW DELHI: India’s industrial production growth slipped to a four-month low of 2% in June, mainly due to poor performance of mining and manufacturing sectors, according to government data released on Friday.

Factory output, as measured by the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), had expanded by 7% in June 2018. The previous low in IIP growth was in February 2019, when it had inched up 0.2%. PTI

Huawei unveils own operating system

Dongguan: Chinese telecom giant Huawei on Friday unveiled its own operating system, as it faces the threat of losing access to Android systems amid escalating US-China trade tensions. The highly-anticipated software is considered crucial for the tech group’s survival as it confronts a looming White House ban on US companies selling technology products to Huawei which could remove its access to Google’s Android operating system. J&K rejig to speed up NHPC projects 

New Delhi: The NHPC hopes to soon start work and speed up major projects in the Chenab Basin after the reorganisation of J&K into a union territory. Addressing media here on Friday, NHPC CMD Balraj Joshi said the path had been smoothened for the construction of the Ratle, Pakul Dul and Kiru hydroelectric projects. He said NHPC will also contribute to the defence of the nation by leveraging on its experience of working in hilly terrain.  TNS

SC upholds IBC amendments

New Delhi: In an important verdict bringing cheers to thousands of homebuyers, the Supreme Court on Friday upheld amendments to the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), giving them status of financial creditors. Deciding over 180 petitions filed by builders, a Bench led by Justice RF Nariman said the RERA Act which regulates the real estate sector should be read harmoniously with the IBC amendments and in case of any conflict the IBC will prevail.
