10 shops sealed for not paying property tax

Patiala, June 12

Officials of the Municipal Corporation on Tuesday sealed 10 shops situated near the local mall and vegetable market for not paying property tax. Action was initiated under Section 138 of the Punjab Municipal Corporation Act, 1976. 

A team of the house tax branch of the civic body sealed the shops, causing panic in the area.

Joint MC Commissioner Ankur Mohindru said the civic body had sent notices to the owners of these shops for depositing the property tax or house tax, but despite the warning, they did not deposit the tax following which action was initiated.

He appealed to city residents to pay their property tax on time to avoid any action against their properties. — TNS
