Mohali, March 12

The special NIA court today granted three-day remand to Amir Nazir Meer, the key accused in the grenade attack on Maqsudan Police Station in Jalandhar.

The other two accused in the case, Fazil Bashir and Shahid Qeom, have been sent to judicial custody.

Earlier, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) demanded more remand for Amir Nazir on the plea that they have to interrogate him about his contacts in Pakistan. The defence counsel opposed the move, stating that the agency could not present any proof in this regard so far.

According to sources, the NIA had earlier claimed that Amir Nazir had been associated with Pakistan-based terrorists, including Zakir Moosa.

The attack on Maqsudan Police Station had taken place on September 14, 2018, in which two policemen had sustained injuries.
