CHANDIGARH: Three miscreants, all drug addicts, were arrested by the UT police for snatching cash and documents from a resident of Dadu Majra Colony, in Sector 38 on Tuesday night.

Three miscreants, all drug addicts, were arrested by the UT police for snatching cash and documents from a resident of Dadu Majra Colony, in Sector 38 on Tuesday night.

According to the police, complainant Mukesh Kumar said he was returning home on his scooter when the miscreants, riding a motorcycle, intercepted him near the Sector 38 chowk. They took away his documents and Rs 3,000 in cash.

As they made a bid for the victim’s mobile phone, he raised the alarm following which some pssersby gathered at the spot. Afraid they would be caught, the miscreants fled, abandoning their motorcycle. Soon the police arrived there too. A team of the Maloya police traced the motorcycle owner, leading to the arrest of suspects Deepak (34) and Sarabjeet (23), both residents of Jujhar Nagar in Mohali district, and Deepak (23) of Dhanas in Chandigarh. “The motorcycle is registered in the name of Sarabjeet’s mother,” said a police official.
