9th straight win takes city boys to knockouts

CHANDIGARH:Chandigarh kept their all-win record intact with their ninth consecutive victory to qualify for the knockouts in the Men’s Under-23 One-Day Trophy.

Chandigarh kept their all-win record intact with their ninth consecutive victory to qualify for the knockouts in the Men’s Under-23 One-Day Trophy. In their final plate group match, Chandigarh beat Nagaland by 67 runs at Cuttack today. Chandigarh will take on Vidarbha at Dehradun on November 26 in the knockouts.

After choosing to bat first, Chandigarh got off to a great start, with openers Mohd Arslan Khan and captain Jagmeet Singh scoring 99 runs in 15 overs. Later, Aayush Sikka (61) and Bhagmender Lather (95) put on an 85-run stand to steer the team to 335/6. Lather smashed eight sixers in his innings. 

In reply, Nagalnd were bowled out for 268 in 49.2 overs. Nippu Pandita (3/44) and Amrita Lubana (3/52) shared three wickets each.

Hosts take lead after Sarthak takes 9 wkts

Chandigarh: Pacer Sarthak Sharan’s phenomenal effort helped Chandigarh take a 203-run lead on the first day of their Cooch Behar Trophy match against Arunachal Pradesh at Mahajan cricket grounds today. Sarthak took nine wickets for 29 runs as the hosts bowled out the visitors for 46 runs. Raj Bawa was the other wicket-taker. Chandigarh finished the day at 251/4.
