Keeping in view various traffic restrictions imposed by the district administration on the stretch from Desu Majra to Khanpur in connection with the ongoing construction work of the flyover, the Kharar Municipal Council (MC) removed encroachments on both sides of the old Morinda road here on Thursday.

Kharar SDM Vinod Bansal, DSP Deep Kamal, Tehsildar Ravinder Bansal and MC Executive Officer Rajesh Sharma supervised the whole operation carried out by employees of the civic body and the police force.

Many temporary encroachments on the road were removed with the help of a JCB. What came as a surprise is that all shopkeepers themselves urged the SDM and other officials, who went on foot, to remove all encroachments.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) has imposed a number of restrictions on plying of vehicles on the old Morinda road to expedite construction of the flyover. These restrictions will be implemented w.e.f October 15.

Talking to mediapersons, SDM Vinod Bansal said, “Today’s action has been taken keeping in view restrictions imposed by the DC. This road will be widened by five feet on both sides so that drivers can use it during the ban.”
