Vijay Pal Singh, a 31-year-old agriculturist, spent Rs 5.10 lakh to bag 0001 number of the CH01-BD series, for his brand new white color Jaguar XF model car during the auction hosted by the Registration and Licensing Authority (RLA) in Sector 17, here today.

Vijay Pal Singh, a native of Malout (Muktsar), is currently staying at a rented accommodation in Sector 8 and owns two cars, Skoda Rapid and Mitsubishi Lancer (both having normal registration numbers) while for his third car, the luxurious Jaguar XF (worth around Rs 48lakh), he bid for the highest amount.

“I was not coming for the auction, but my maternal uncle forced me to do so. And after reaching here, I just continued with the flow. I own two cars however this new addition is the best and worth carrying the ‘0001’ number plate. So, here’s how, I ended up as the highest bidder” said Vijay Pal Singh.

When asked if there was some special or astrological reason to bag the numbers, he added, “There is no special or astrological reason behind it. It’s just that, the bid suited my pocket and I just grabbed it. While bidding, I had only one thing in mind, the ‘Jaguar’. I have already spent a lot on the car, so why not a little more to make it look more good”. Vijay Pal also takes keen interest in stock market. “Besides agriculture, I have keen interest in the stock market” he added.

On the opening day of auction, the Registration and Licensing Authority in Sector 17, Chandigarh, bagged Rs 41.70 lakh. The vanity numbers 0004 and 0009 got the second highest bid of Rs.1,80,000 each, while 0003 remained the number three bid of the day for Rs. 1,75,000.
