All five accused in Pinjore looting incident nabbed

PANCHKULA:The Crime Branch of the police nabbed all five accused involved in a looting incident that was reported in Pinjore late on Sunday night.

The Crime Branch of the police nabbed all five accused involved in a looting incident that was reported in Pinjore late on Sunday night. The accused had decamped with gold jewellery and Rs 70,000 cash from the house of sarpanch Jaswinder Singh at Kiratpur village.

The accused have been identified as Mandeep Singh (27), Gurdeep, alias Manish (19), both residents of Kiratpur, Subhash Chander (26), Avtar Singh (20), both residents of Kherawala, and Balwinder Singh (19) of Garida village.

According to the police, Jaswinder’s wife had informed the Crime Branch sleuths that she had recognised Mandeep’s voice as he was a resident of the same village. When the police checked the mobile location of Mandeep, it was found near Jaswinder’s house at the time of the incident.

When the police asked Mandeep where he was on Sunday night, he could not give any satisfactory reply. During interrogation, he revealed his involvement in the looting incident and also disclosed the names of other accused.

Aman Kumar, Investigating Officer, Crime Branch, Sector 26, said they had also recovered one country-made pistol, two live cartridges and Rs 11,000 from Gurdeep. He said during investigation the accused had also revealed that they were also involved in looting four petrol pumps in Nanakpura, Khuhwala, Charniya and Garida villages of the Pinjore block, besides looting liquor vends in Nanakpura and Charniya villages in the past six months.

The IO said a case has been registered against the accused under Sections 342, 395, 397, 506 of the IPC and Section 25-54-59 of the Arms Act at the Pinjore police station. He said the accused were produced in the court which sent them to police custody.  Further investigations were on in the case.
