Chandigarh: An auto driver snatched a purse containing Rs 1,200 from a passenger near the bus stop in Sector 10 on the intervening night of October 10 and 11.



Chandigarh: An auto driver snatched a purse containing Rs 1,200 from a passenger near the bus stop in Sector 10 on the intervening night of October 10 and 11. According to the police, the complainant, Ram Chander, a resident of Dhanas village, reported that he had hired an auto from the PGI to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16, around 12.30 am. The complainant said the auto driver dropped him near the bus stop on Madhya Marg in Sector 10. “As the victim was about to pay Rs 20, the auto driver snatched his purse containing Rs 1,200,” said a police official. The auto driver sped away from the spot. A case was registered at the Sector 3 police station. TNS

Theft at house

Chandigarh: In a daylight incident, thieves decamped with  gold jewellery from a house in Sector 46 on Thursday. According to the police, the complainant, Jaswinder Kaur, reported that a gold kada, earrings, a gold chain and gold rings were stolen from the house. The police were informed following which a case was registered at the Sector 34 police station. TNS
