Chandigarh, April 17
Kin of a cancer patient on Tuesday lodged a complaint against the Radiotherapy Department of the GMCH, Sector 32, here for harassment of a cancer patient.
Sanjiv Kumar, who lodged a complaint with the Director’s office, said for the past two month his sister was made to shuttle from one office to another merely for tests.
Sanjiv said his sister, Sarita Sharma (44), was diagnosed with cancer two month ago. On February 27, Sarita visited the hospital for tests.
“She was asked to visit the hospital on March 7 for MRI. However, on March 7 a radiotherapist denied conducting the MRI after observing that my sister had metal implant in her teeth,” said Sanjiv.
“We were asked to visit the hospital on April 7 for CT scan. After conducting the CT scan, we were told to collect the report on Tuesday i.e. April 17. When I visited the hospital to collect the report, I was told that the report will not be handed over to the patient till the time ultrasound will not be conducted,” said Sanjiv. He said his sister had to travel nearly 200 km to reach the hospital, but the treatment of his sister had not been initiated yet. Prof BS Chavan, Director, GMCH, said the matter would be probed. — TNS
