CHANDIGARH:Hockey Chandigarh handed an 8-0 drubbing to Assam Hockey in the 9th Hockey India Senior Women National Hockey Championship 2019 (B Division) quarterfinals in Hisar on Thursday.

Hockey Chandigarh handed an 8-0 drubbing to Assam Hockey in the 9th Hockey India Senior Women National Hockey Championship 2019 (B Division) quarterfinals in Hisar on Thursday.   

Anu (3rd, 24th), Lakhwinder Kaur (11th, 27th) and Manju (41st, 50th) scored a brace each while captain Shweta (45th) and Sarabdeep Kaur (56th) added a goal apiece to the Chandigarh tally. 

In the semifinals, the side will play Steel Plant Sports Board (SPSB), which beat Hockey Bihar 2-0. Mayuri Rai (50th) and Shailja Kumari Gautam scored (52nd) for SPSB.

In the other semifinals, Sports Authority of India (SAI) will take on UCO Bank Women's Hockey Academy.

While SAI dumped Hockey Himachal 9-0, UCO Bank humbled The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd 6-3. 

Punjab girls face TN in hockey opener   

Hockey Punjab will face Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu in their opening match of the Hockey India Senior Women National Championship 2019 (A division), which kicks off in Hisar on Friday. Punjab has been placed in Pool D along with Hockey Jharkhand, Association of Indian Universities, Kerala Hockey and Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu. Pool A comprises RSPB, Hockey Rajasthan, Hockey Karnataka, Hockey Odisha and Hockey Coorg, while Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy, Hockey Gangpur-Odisha, Chhattisgarh Hockey and Hockey Bhopal form Pool B. Haryana, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Hockey Him, CRPF have been clubbed in Pool C.
