Chandigarh trounce Ludhiana, in semis

MOHALI: Chandigarh bagged seven points after defeating Ludhiana by an innings and 130 runs victory, face Jalandhar, in the semifinals of the ongoing Punjab Inter-District Cricket U-19 Championship for Dhruv Pandove Trophy at PCA Stadium in Mohali.

Chandigarh bagged seven points after defeating Ludhiana by an innings and 130 runs victory,   face Jalandhar, in the semifinals of the ongoing Punjab Inter-District Cricket U-19 Championship for Dhruv Pandove Trophy at PCA Stadium in Mohali. With this win, Chandigarh topped their Pool C with 15 points and take on Jalandhar from Pool B. 

Overnight 367/7, Chandigarh declared their innings at 402/8 in 93 overs, Nipun Sharda went on to complete an unbeaten century (104*). In reply, Ludhiana were bowled out for 81 in 35.2 overs. Resham Sharma (4/24) and Yuvraj Chaudhary (3/13) bundled out Ludhiana batsmen cheaply. Dipin Chitkara (21) was the highest rungetter for the visitors. 

Following on, Ludhiana were bowled out for 191 runs in 59.3 overs. Gurjot Singh (57), Jaish Jain (42), Lovish Dhir (39) and Dipin Chitkara (28) were the main rungetters for the visitors. Resham carried on the good work with ball scalping 5/39. He was ably assisted by Amandeep Pannu (2/30).

Patiala-Mohali tie drawn

Overnight 15/0, Patiala were bundled out for 175 runs in 55.5 overs. Abhishek Verma (41), Ayush Agarhori (29), Prince Balwant Rai (26) and Jashanpreet Singh (21) were the main rungetters for Patiala.  Hardik Chowdhary (6/38) and Akash Dahri (2/82) engineered Patiala's collapse. Following on, Patiala were 70/7 in their second innings at the end of the day's play. 

Hardik Chaudhary (3/51) was the pick of the bowlers. He was ably supported by Inderpreet Singh (2/7) and Akash Dahri (2/12). Mohali claimed three points on the basis of first innings lead while Patiala got one. Patiala, with nine points including an outright win, beat Jalandhar to head Pool B. 

Jalandhar took the second spot with nine points.

Jalandhar garner three points

Overnight 65/5 in 30 overs, Jalandhar declared their first innings at 255/8 in 91 overs.  Gaurav Chaudhary (110), Amrik Singh (38), Parth Aggarwal (37) and Prerit Dutta (23) were the main rungetters. 

For Kapurthala, Naveen (3/70) was the pick of the bowlers. In reply, Kapurthala were bundled out for 99 runs in 52.5 overs. Parteek Pawar (31), Amit Thapa (18) and Manjinder Singh (15) were the main rungetters while Prerit Dutta (8/32) returned with magical figures for Jalandhar.

Amritsar beat Ropar

At Gandhi Grounds in Amritsar, the hosts defeated Ropar by an innings and 58 runs to bag seven points. Amritsar, with 13 points, took the second spot behind Chandigarh in Pool C. Amritsar will now take on Patiala in the second semifinal. Gagan Verma (30), Uday Bhagwan Singh (22) and Ravi Kant (28) were the main rungetters for Ropar.  Rahul Kashyap (6/39) was the most successful bowler for Amritsar. Following on, Ropar innings ended for 136 runs in 28.3 overs. Ravi Kant (58), Gourav Markan (22) and Ashish Kushwah (23) were the main rungetters. For Amritsar, Rohit Gulati (4/33), Sumit Sharma (2/11) and Rahul Kashyap (2/36) were the main wickettakers.

Semifinal matches 

Chandigarh will take on Jalandhar in the first four-day semifinal at home while in the second semifinal Amritsar will meet hosts Patiala at Dhruv Pandove Stadium. The semifinal matches will be played from June 4 to 8.
