Patiala: Continuing with the Swachh Pakhwara Campaign, the NSS Department of the Government Bikram College of Commerce organised a one day camp here on Saturday.



Patiala: Continuing with the Swachh Pakhwara Campaign, the NSS Department of the Government Bikram College of Commerce organised a one day camp here on Saturday. As many as 150 volunteers actively participated in the cleanliness drive. They cleaned the college campus, sanitised washrooms, brushed walls and removed Congress grass. Prof Ranjit Singh Ghuman (retd) delivered a talk on the “Agrarian crises and its consequences” on the occasion. He said agrarian crises lead to unrest in Punjab. According to him, one of the reasons of farmers’ distress was non-generation of employment opportunities. This led to the migration of more than one lakh students to foreign shores this year, he added. The college magazine “Bikram”, edited by Dr PS Rekhi of the English Department, was also released by Dr Ghuman in the presence of the college Principal, Dr Harminder Kaur, and council members during the drive. YPS celebrates academic day

Patiala: Yadavindra Public School (YPS), Patiala, celebrated its 69th annual academic day on Saturday. Dr BS Ghuman, Vice-Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala presented awards to the achievers of the academic year 2017-18 on the occasion. The event included lighting of the inaugural lamps and presentation of the 2017-18 annual reports by the director and school prefects. This was followed by a video presentation of previous year’s major activities. Thereafter, achievers were felicitated with certificates, medals and trophies by the VC.  The YPS director, Maj-Gen Sanjiv Varma (retd), emphasised on the all round development of a child, measures initiated to make students excel further in all fields and the focus towards adding to the facilities required for further enhancement of children’s abilities and desires. Drugs awareness rally

Patiala: Under the campaign Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, NCC cadets of 3Pb Air Sqn of  Senior Secondary Model School, Punjabi University, took out a drug awareness rally at Punjabi University on Friday. Principal of the school, SK Nirmal Goyal, apprised students of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and dark side of drugs on the occasion. TNS
