Patiala: A new course of BA Honours in Social Sciences has been introduced from this session at Khalsa College, Patiala.



Patiala: A new course of BA Honours in Social Sciences has been introduced from this session at Khalsa College, Patiala. This course is similar to the one which is being run at Punjabi University, Patiala. English, Punjabi and Computer Science will be taught as compulsory subjects to students and they can choose three subjects out of other subjects such as history, political science, sociology, economics and public administration. The main objective of this course is to prepare the students for competitive examinations such as PCS and IAS. College Principal Dharminder Singh Ubha said the students would also be trained in communication skills and interview skills. There are total 50 seats for this course and the admission of the students will be on merit basis. The last date of the submission of the form is July 8 and the last date of admission is July 10. Besides, another subject of theatre in BA will also be introduced from this session. The other courses to be run in the college from this session are MPhil in Music and Mathematics.

Singing contest auditions

The Ramgarhia Cultural and Welfare Council conducted auditions for the semi-final of mega singing contest, "Mujhko Mere Baad Zamana Dhundega", which is being organised every year to mark the death anniversary of legendary singer Mohammad Rafi. As many as 49 singers from Punjab, Haryana, HP  Rajasthan and Chandigarh participated in the contest. The grand finale will be held next month in Patiala. President of the council and show director Paramjit S Parwana said the contest had become a popular talent hunt event of North India in which youths sing popular songs of the golden era of the Hindi film industry.
