Gladiators beat Knights XI

Panchkula: Zirakpur Gladiators registered a five-run win over Knights XI in a Champions Corporate Cricket League match here on Wednesday.



Panchkula:  Zirakpur Gladiators registered a five-run win over Knights XI in a Champions Corporate Cricket League match here on Wednesday. Batting first, Gladiators were all out for 166 runs in 20 overs. Rajat made 41 runs, while Ankush Garg added 24 to the total. Vikas claimed 3/39 for Knights, while Naveen took 2/45. In reply, Knights XI could only manage 161/6 in allotted overs. Naveen scored 44 runs, while Rishabh contributed 41 to the chase. Diwan and Sharad claimed two wickets each for Gladiators. TNS

Basketball trials on May 25 

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Basketball Association will on May 25 organise trials to select the junior (U-18) team for the 70th Junior National Basketball Championship, scheduled to be held in Patna from September 21-28. The trials will be held at 5.30 pm at New Public School, Sector 18, the sports body said here on Wednesday. Players born on or after January 1, 2001, will be eligible to participate in the trials. The interested players need to bring their date of birth certificates, duly signed by the head of the respective institutions, to the venue. TNS

Jerath, Sonia for boxing meet

Chandigarh:  CK Jerath, president of the Chandigarh Amateur Boxing Association (CABA) and Sonia Kanwar, joint secretary, CABA), have been nominated as technical support for the ongoing India Open International Boxing Tournament in Guwahati by the Boxing Federation of India. Sonia will also act as a referee/judge in the tournament, the boxing association said here on Wednesday. TNS

Bansal elected president

Chandigarh:  Vikul Bansal was on Wednesday elected as the president of the Chandigarh Kickboxing Association. The elections were conducted under the chairmanship of Ashwani Kumar and NS Thakur, both representatives of the Chandigarh Olympic Association, said the sports body. TNS
