Lawyers continue protest against Haryana Tribunal

The Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association continued its indefinite strike today. They are resenting the constitution of the Haryana Administrative Tribunal. The lawyers marched to the Haryana Raj Bhawan for lodging their protest.

The Bar Association asserted: “In continuation of the protest and to show unity among the legal fraternity, all members of the Bar are requested to assemble in front of the gate number one of the High Court on July 30 at 9.30 am. Further course of action shall be decided thereafter.”

The decision to suspend work was taken by the Bar Association executive committee and conveyed to Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice Krishna Murari. Following the notification, the Benches hearing Haryana service matters are not taking them up. The Bar Association asserted that its executive committee had unanimously decided that the work would remain suspended indefinitely in the wake of Bar’s resentment with regard to the notification constituting the Haryana Administrative Tribunal.

“The Chief Justice and judges are requested to consider the request of the Bar with a request that no adverse order may be passed on the account of the absence of advocates in their cases,” the communication to the Chief Justice added.
