The police have registered a case of theft against a man, who allegedly took away gold ornaments of a jeweller and faked a snatching incident on Tuesday. The police said they had nabbed the suspect and recovered the stolen goods from him.

Mandeep Singh Sidhu, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), said the police had nabbed the suspect, identified as Pankaj Kumar of Namdhari Colony in Samana, after he confessed to the crime.

The police said Sandeep Jain, who has a jewellery shop in Jain Muhalla, Samana, had given some ornaments to the suspect for finishing. They said Pankaj later called him and said two unidentified persons on a motorcycle snatched the gold items from him.
