Man duped of Rs 6.50 lakh on pretext of job in Macau

AMBALA: A man was duped of Rs 6.50 lakh on the pretext of providing him a job of a helper in Macau. The suspects have been identified as Tek Chand, from Ambala, and Shivani from Kurukshetra, while the victim has been identified as Jasbir Singh, a resident of Kurukshetra.

A man was duped of Rs 6.50 lakh on the pretext of providing him a job of a helper in Macau. The suspects have been identified as Tek Chand, from Ambala, and Shivani from Kurukshetra, while the victim has been identified as Jasbir Singh, a resident of Kurukshetra.

Jasbir said the suspects had been running their office in Ambala City to lure unemployed youths on the pretext of providing them jobs in foreign countries. He came in contact with the suspects in December last year. They promised to provide him the job of a helper in a kitchen in Macau on the monthly wages of Rs 70,000. They asked him to pay Rs 6.50 lakh.

On their demand, the complainant paid Rs 3.50 lakh to them in January this year. The suspects arranged the visa for Macau to the complainant.

The complainant, along with three more persons namely Manpreet Singh and Mandeep Singh, both from Chandigarh, and Gurdeep Singh from Patiala, were flown to Macau on January 7. One of the suspects, Shivani, also accompanied them to Macau on the same flight.

The complainant and the three persons were asked to take the remaining amount of Rs 3 lakh along with them. The woman took the money from them after reaching Macau.

Jasbir alleged they were made to stay in a hotel in Macau for 3-4 days. Later, all of them were flown to Thailand on the pretext that rules had changed in Macau. After staying in a hotel for 7-8 days, they were again asked to go to Macau. The suspect gave them tickets for Macau, which were later found to be fake. The woman left for India on the same day from a different airport.

They somehow arranged tickets for Macau and reached the office and showed their appointment letters, which were again found to be fake. They came back to India in March.

A case has been registered under Sections 406 and 420 of the IPC and Section 24 of the Emigration Act at the Ambala City police station.
