MC notice to change running meter shocks Sec 18 resident

CHANDIGARH: In an interesting case, the Municipal Corporation has sent a notice to change the meter running properly.

In an interesting case, the Municipal Corporation has sent a notice to change the meter running properly. While Sunil Parti, a resident of House No. 1286, Sector 18, has been issued the bill on the basis of the reading that the meter showed, the notice termed his meter faulty.

A visibly shocked Parti said he was served the final notice to change the meter. Parti said when he was paying the bills regularly on the basis of the reading shown by the meter, then how the same meter can be declared faulty.

Parti said he was earlier never told by any MC employee that his meter was faulty and never warned earlier or served notice for this meter. Suddenly, he got the final notice last week.

The notice of the MC reads the water meter of 15-mm size installed at your premises has been found defective. “As per the new policy of the MC, the water meter shall be arranged by the consumer. You are requested to arrange the meter of the above mentioned size of ISI mark and get the same replaced after getting tested from the meter testing laboratory in Sector 32 immediately. Failing which, the consumer will be charged at the double rates of the consumption of water in the next bills.”

Parti said when his bill is showing the reading properly, then how it is faulty.
