CHANDIGARH: City residents expressed solidarity with Sri Lankan people and voiced their horror over a series of explosions at churches in the island nation that killed over 200 people during the Easter celebrations today.

City residents expressed solidarity with Sri Lankan people and voiced their horror over a series of explosions at churches in the island nation that killed over 200 people during the Easter celebrations today.

President of the Tricity Church Association Lawrence Malik condemned the act and termed it “cruel violence”.

He said, “People who perpetrate such heinous and barbaric acts have no religion. We can only pray that better sense prevails on them and they understand what humanity is.”

Malik said, “We offered prayers in the church for people who have been killed. A meeting will be convened tomorrow morning where a peace procession will be held.”

Vishal Singh, a resident of Sector 20, who went to the church to light a candle in solidarity with the Sri Lankan people, said, “We prayed for the victims of the attack. The act is an attack on humanity.” — TNS
