‘Smart cat eyes’ on black spots to avert accidents’

MOHALI: In order to control road accidents and ensure smooth flow of traffic, the district administration has decided to install ‘smart cat eyes’ (ultra-modern lights) on black spots.

In order to control road accidents and ensure smooth flow of traffic, the district administration has decided to install ‘smart cat eyes’ (ultra-modern lights) on black spots.

DC Girish Dayalan said this while presiding over a meeting of the District Level Road Safety Committee today. He said these ultra-modern lights would be visible from distance and would prevent help accidents.

Accompanied by ADC (General) Sakshi Sawhney and ADC (Development) Aashika Jain, the DC also took stock of the development works being carried out on the airport road and road from Phase 3/5 chowk to Phase 11 road.

He said Progressive Punjab Summit was being organised at Indian School of Business. Thus, beautification and cleaning work from the airport to the IISER and further up till ISB was to be done at the earliest. He directed the officers of the MC, the NHAI, the police administration and the GMADA to complete the work in a time-bound manner.

Dayalan directed the SDMs to form a joint team under their jurisdiction which would comprise officers of the police administration, the NHAI, the PWD to identify black spots. The team will submit a report within week of proposed actions, which would be taken immediately to prevent the accidents on these spots.
