Now, Panchkula MC gets ODF plus plus tag

The Panchkula Municipal Corporation (MC) has got yet another feather in its cap. The Central Government has issued a certificate of open defecation-free (ODF) plus plus status to the civic body.

The municipal area of the city was already declared open defecation-free and now, the Centre has issued the ODF plus plus certification.

In the third week of January, inspection of the city was carried out by a Delhi team. During this time, the team inspected public places, including individual, community and public toilets. 

According to the ODF guidelines, facilities of urinal in 10 washrooms, sanitary napkin vending machine, napkin destroyer and handwash facility are checked during the survey. 

The corporation has a sewage treatment plant for scientific disposal of human feces, which was also inspected by the team. The team expressed satisfaction over the work here.

During the survey, more than 1,000 photographs of from different places were taken and the same were uploaded on the Central Government’s inspection portal. 

The ODF plus plus certification was released by the Central Government today. The name of the Panchkula Municipal Corporation was on the list.

Rajesh Jogpal, Administrator-cum-Municipal Commissioner, while congratulating the city residents, praised the work of all employees of the civic body and urged them to continue with their work of keeping the city clean. He said with 250 points the city would be able to improve its ranking in the Smart City list.
