CHANDIGARH: The two-day 4th biennial conference and national symposium by the Association of Avian Health Professionals on ‘Poultry Health: The Way Forward to Ensure Food Security and Food Safety” began here on Friday.

The two-day 4th biennial conference and national symposium by the Association of Avian Health Professionals on ‘Poultry Health: The Way Forward to Ensure Food Security and Food Safety” began here on Friday.

Addressing the delegates, Dr Bhuvnesh Kumar, Director, Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences, New Delhi, outlined the development of poultry in India and discussed the constraints and difficulties faced by farmers and industries on the increasing risk of disease risk, consumer demands, anti-biotic resistance and emerging zoonotic diseases.

He highlighted the contribution of DIHAR, a constituent laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organisation and CPDO, in poultry health and production in plains and high altitude areas. About 200 propfessionals and stake holders from universities, research institutes partcipated.
