Chandigarh: Puneet Rana, an inspector in the Haryana Police, has won seven medals, including two individual gold medals, in the ongoing World Police Games at Los Angeles. Rana clinched gold in 50m and 100m breast stroke competition, while he bagged three silver and two bronze medals in the team events. — TNS

Cricket trials today

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Cricket Association (affiliated to Punjab) will conduct trials to select the city team for the Katoch Shield Tournament on August 13. The trials will be held at Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 26, from 4 pm, the sports body said on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Punjab Cricket Association will organise trails to select U-19 and senior team for the Mohali District Cricket Association at IS Bindra Sadium tomorrow. The selected teams will participate in the inter-district tournament matches for DP Azad Trophy and Katoch Shield, said the PCA. The trails for U-19 team will be held at 7 am, while the trials for senior team will begin at 9 am. Katoch Shield begins on August 25. — TNS
