One of the owners of a night club, Pipe and Barrel, in Sector 9 was arrested by the Chandigarh Police for opening the club beyond the permitted time. Sources said during patrolling in the area, the police found the club open around 1.30 am. The police swung into action and got the club closed.

Police officials said it was a violation of the Deputy Commissioner’s orders issued under Section 144 of the CrPC.

The sources said music at night clubs had to be stopped at midnight and the clubs closed by 1 am.

The Sector 3 police station, under which the club falls, was informed about the incident following which a case was registered against one of the club owners, Sumesh Gagneja. He was booked under Section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by a public servant) of the IPC at the Sector 3 police station. Sumesh was later released on bail.

The police are on the alert after the firing incident at F Bar in Sector 26 during a birthday party of BJP MP Kirron Kher’s close associate Sahdev Salaria on November 20. They said a close watch was being kept on night clubs in Sectors 9, 7 and 26 by them to ensure that the clubs were not open after the permitted hours.
