Chandigarh’s Pratyaksh Goel maintained his supremacy as he drew his final round game with city-mate Prateek Wadhwa to win the Chandigarh Open Fide Rating Chess Championship here on Monday. 

Goel scored a total of eight points to top the podium. He was followed by Punjab’s Sanjeev Kumar Sood (seven points) in second place, while Wadhwa (seven points) bagged the third position.

Meanwhile, Tushita Chopra was adjudged the Best Women’s Player. Swastik Singhal led the field in the boys’ U-15 category and Gunika Jalota topped chart in the girls’ U-15 age-group. 

Utkrisht Tuli and Jusmaira Gumber also led their respective categories.  

Ashna Bansal was named the best women player from Chandigarh. She was followed by Amaira Kahlon in second place.  

Bhavya Batra led Chandigarh boys in the U-15 category. He was followed by Shaurya Chopra in second place.  

Nikita Goyal held challenge in the girls' U-15 age-group, while Shirin Bhattacharyya occupied the second spot.  

In the U-10 category, Amey Goyal and Aaditya Singla claimed the top-two positions respectively among the Chandigarh boys, while Samisha Taneja led the field in the girls' segment. She was followed by Kamya Kumari in second place.

A total of 124 players from Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and Maharashtra participated in the championship, which was organised by the Chandigarh Chess Association.
