New Delhi, August 22

Welcoming the judgment of the Supreme Court in the triple talaq case, BJP president Manoj Tiwari said the decision would go a long way to end communal appeasement politics and empowering Muslim women.

Hailing the strong stand taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government in the matter of talaq, Tiwari said those like Arvind Kejriwal and Congress who had played appeasement politics should take a lesson from today’s SC judgment.

He also spoke on Bawana assembly by-election, saying that the AAP and its leader Arvind Kejriwal were masters of the art of running dual and dubious election campaigns and levelling baseless allegations to malign characters of political opponents. The present series of dubious campaign methods seen at Bawana in the form of yesterday's communal appeal posters and the MLA, Alka Lamba's tweet with fake TV survey shows that the AAP is continuing Kejriwal's old political tactics. In Goa and Punjab the AAP tried similar tricks, but failed.

AAP, DCW hail judgment

The AAP today welcomed the Supreme Court verdict declaring triple talaq "unconstitutional". DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal Jaihind also hailed the Supreme Court ruling terming it as the maiden step leading towards much-needed reforms.

"AAP welcomes SC judgement on triple talaq. It is historic. Let's hope Muslim women will not have to suffer any more," party leader Ashutosh tweeted.

The DCW welcomed the apex court judgment quashing the practice of divorce through triple talaq among Muslims, declaring it illegal and void as well.
