Extortionist threatening victim, family, held

New Delhi, August 18

An extortionist, who was threatening the victim and her family, has been arrested. The accused Rana demanded extortion money of Rs 50,000 from the victim and threatened to kill her children if she fails to pay him.

Special Police laid a trap for  Rana and arrested him when he came to collect the extortion money from the victim.

On August 13, a lady (name withheld) lodged a complaint wherein she alleged that on August 12 at around 8 pm, she received a call on her father’s mobile from an unknown number, who introduced himself as Rana, and demanded the extortion money, police said.

Rana threatened to kill her daughter and son if she does not give him the money and if she reports it to the police. He told her that he would have to spend only Rs 75 on a bullet, they said. — TNS
