New Delhi, March 21
Speaking on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Santokh Singh, former president of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), Vice-Chancellor of Punjabi University, Patiala, Professor Jaspal Singh said that Santokh Singh was the pioneer of Sikh institutions in Delhi.
At a function here today, the Vice-Chancellor said that Guru Harkrishan Public School at India Gate was the first one started by the gurdwara committee under the guidance of Santokh and present president of the DSGMC, Manjit Singh (GK), was the first student of the school.
Pointing out his commitment to Sikhism, he said that Santokh had never worked as agent of the government.
Senior leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal), Avtar Singh Hit said that Santokh had always worked for betterment of the community. —TNS
