Kejriwal holds review meetings on water, power

Chief Minister (CM) Arvind Kejriwal, who today left for Bengaluru to undergo naturopathy treatment, held back-to-back meetings on Thursday at the Delhi Secretariat.

The CM reviewed several projects of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and sought daily report on water scenario in the city with details of area-wise problem, action taken and timeline of resolving the issue.

Officials are supposed to submit daily report on the status of water production in the capital and water augmentation projects. They have been told to give details of solution of the problem and whether they have been solved or not, said a senior official. The reports will be sent to the Kejriwal, who heads the DJB, everyday from tomorrow.

The AAP government has been targeted by the opposition BJP and the Congress on concerns over shortage of water in several parts of the city.

The CM took stock of the ongoing projects in the city apart from the situation of water in Delhi.

Daily production of water, water augmentation projects, area-wise water availability, projects to improve ground water recharge and treatment of water were also discussed during the meeting, which was attended by Vice Chairman of DJB, Dinesh Mohania, CEO AK Singh and other senior officials of the board.

Kejriwal also took stock of the current scenario of power in the city during a meeting and sought a daily report on its status from the power department officials and the electricity distribution companies (DISCOMs).

In the meeting with the Power Minister Satyendar Jain, Power Secretary, other senior officials of the Department and top officials of the three DISCOMS, Kejriwal directed the officials to send a daily report to him which will consist of the details of – power cuts, duration of power cut, reason of power cut, action taken and how long will it take to solve the problem.

These reports will also be sent to the CM everyday from tomorrow. He also sought the status of the policy of subsidy to the tenants and directed the department to implement it as soon as possible.
