19,000 benefited from ITI training: Govt

As many as 19,000 persons have been benefited under the ITI training programme during the past 45 months against the target of 7,472 persons fixed for this year.

A state government spokesperson said the youth belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and OBCs with an annual income below Rs 35,000 and who have got training from ITI or other training institute, are provided a subsidy of Rs 1,800 for purchasing sewing machine or other equipment so that they can become self-reliant.

The government has constituted Gaddi, Gujjar, Gorkha and Labana Welfare Boards to ensure their development by the effective implementation of schemes initiated for these communities so as to ensure that the government’s target of welfare of all could be achieved.

The annual income limit has been enhanced from Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 to get benefit of welfare schemes so that more eligible people could be brought under its ambit.

The state government is providing a financial assistance of Rs 75,000 to those people of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and OBCs (who own land in their name) for the construction of new house. In addition to this, an assistance of Rs 25,000 is also given for carrying out renovation of old house. Under the scheme, a target of 3,167 houses has been fixed for the year 2016-17 for which a budget provision of Rs 2,368 lakh has been made. As many as 13,241 houses were constructed during the past three and half years.

Inter-caste marriages are being encouraged so as to eradicate the evil of untouchability from society. A sum of Rs 50,000 is provided to the general caste person who marries a SC/ST girl/boy. More than 1,400 persons have been benefitted during the past 45 months under the scheme and a budget provision of Rs 183 lakh has been made for this year.
