Armed assailants kill 29-year-old property dealer in Jalandhar locality

JALANDHAR: Celebrations turned into mourning at a house in Basti Sheikh area when a 29-year-old property dealer was allegedly killed by armed assailants on Wednesday night.

Celebrations turned into mourning at a house in Janak Nagar of Basti Sheikh area, when a 29-year-old property dealer was allegedly killed by a group of armed assailants late Wednesday night.

Deceased Munish Luthra was to get married next month.

As per eye-witnesses, Luthra was in his shop when armed assailants entered in around 11.30 pm, and attacked him. Luthra, somehow, managed to get out of the shop, and ran towards a road, but the assailants chased him and stabbed him.

Luthra was taken to the Civil Hospital, and from there shifted to Johl Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries early today. 

Sources alleged that the assailants belonged to liquor mafia running in the area.

Luthra had objected to the “open sale of illicit liquor and eve-teasing by some of its members” in the area.
