Ashok Sodhi awards presented to city photojournalists

JAMMU: The Second Ashok Sodhi Memorial Awards for Best Photography 2016 were announced today by a four-member jury constituted by the Press Club of Jammu.

The Second Ashok Sodhi Memorial Awards for Best Photography 2016 were announced today by a four-member jury constituted by the Press Club of Jammu.

Sanjeev Magotra, lensman, State Times, was awarded the first prize. Raman Raina of The Shadow won the second prize while Inderjeet Singh of The Tribune was awarded the third prize in a simple ceremony here.

Senior journalists SP Sharma, Manu Srivats, Ena Sodhi, daughter of photo journalist Late Ashok Sodhi, his family members and executive members of the Press Club of Jammu were present on the occasion. A total number of 25 entries were received by the screening committee.

The competition was judged by Raju Kerni, bureau chief, Zee News, Jammu, Mohd Tauseef Mustafa, staff photographer, AFP, Srinagar, Channi Anand, staff photographer, AP, Jammu, Shib Narayan Acharya, photographic officer, public relation office, Ministry of Defence.

The awards were presented by Press Club president, Ashwani Kumar and secretary general Zorawar Singh Jamwal along with jury members.

Consolation prizes were awarded to Aman Sharma, Greater Jammu, Sarjna Rai, IIMC, Mohd Ali, student and Sewa Ram, photojournalist, Earth News.
