Bhiwani MP alleges bias in irrigation water supply

Bahal (Bhiwani), February 11

Seeking attention of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on pitiable condition of people in the district due to scarcity of water, Bhiwani BJP MP Dharambir Singh invoked former Chief Minister Bansi Lal from the area and asked the former to change people’s fortunes like him.

He stated this while addressing the Loharu Vikas rally organised at Bahal town of district today in which Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Union minister KP Gurjar, state Cabinet ministers Capt Abhimanyu, OP Dhankar, Rao Narbir Singh, Kavita Jain and Ghanshayam Saraf were present.

Alleging discrimination with the district, Dharambir, a former Congressman, said, “Other parts of state get water to irrigate fields seven days a week, while people here get only for 3-4 days and tail-end farmers in Loharu block of the district remain devoid of even drinking water.”

Former Chief Minister Bansi Lal was the only man who catapulted the fortunes of the people in district decades ago by dedicating life canal system and people needed a chief minister like him to revive water facilities in the area, he said.

He left the rally soon after his address, without listening to other speakers, including the Chief Minister.

Rally convener and BJP leader JP Dalal said the situation of water was so alarming that people might have to migrate as groundwater level had gone down drastically.

The Chief Minister said he was well apprised of the water scarcity of the area and accepted all 148 demands, including women’s college and upgrade of schools, which would cost nearly Rs166 crore.

Blaming the previous government of spreading corruption, Khattar said now elected sarpanches would have to face scrutiny of social audit teams for the expenditure spent on welfare projects.

“Each village would soon have 5 or 11 members committee comprising ex-servicemen and intellectuals to keep a watch on expenses details,” he said.

Meanwhile, Congress workers burnt an effigy of the Chief Minister after he failed to announce about starting the work on the proposed Bansi Lal medical college.
