Haridwar, May 28
BJP leader Kunwar Pranav Champion today, in a media briefing, stated that he would file a petition in the Supreme Court to ensure the Rajya Sabha election for the lone seat of Uttarakhand is held after July 12 when the apex court decides on the fate of nine rebel Congress MLAs.
As all of nine legislators have joined the BJP, Kunwar Pranav said the Congress-led coalition government was trying all means to harass and pressurise the nine legislators.
He said as Chief Minister Harish Rawat had proved his majority in the floor test on May 10 because the apex court had barred the dissident Congress legislators, including him, from voting.
“Congress candidate Pradeep Tamta could benefit from this situation as the court will pronounce its verdict on our litigation on July 12. We hope the court considers our application and delays the Rajya Sabha election in the state,” stated Kunwar.
He also alleged that CM Harish Rawat was trying to inaugurate Balawali bridge, which he had earlier inaugurated, so as to take undue credit of the bridge, which is vital for the Khadar area.
Terming the first two-years of the BJP development-oriented, he added that what the Congress couldn’t do in 60 years, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP-led NDA had done in this short span.—TNS
