Mandi, April 5

Fresh snow crippled normal life in Lahaul-Spiti and all internal roads had been blocked again to vehicular traffic today.

There was no respite from biting cold for tribals who found it tough to move from one place to other due to closure of all link roads.

Two days ago, the Himachal Road Transport Corporation had resumed its bus service between Keylong-Udaipur and Keylong-Darcha to facilitate the residents, but fresh snow hampered the bus service.

According to locals, 15-cm snow was recorded at Keylong, while 12 cm at Udaipur and 15 cm at Kaza.

The bad weather also hampered the snow clearing operation by the Border Roads Organisation on the Manali-Leh highway.

The lower region of Kullu and Mandi districts had hailstorm which damaged crops.

Orchardists of the area were hopeful of good apple crop this year but hail and rain might mar their hopes because, according to experts, these may put adverse impact on the pollination process.

With the fresh snow in the upper region and rain in the lower region, temperature plummeted sharply and people forced to wear woollens again.
