City lads shine in JEE (Main)

City lad Tanishq Gupta brought laurels to the tricity by bagging the all-India rank (AIR) 19 in the JEE (Main), 2017. Tanishq scored 335 marks out of 360. While Tanishq is a resident of the city and took coaching for the JEE from here, he did his Class XII from Kulachi Hansraj Model School in Delhi.

Apart from Tanishq, other city boys who made it to the list of toppers include Shashij Gupta and Rushil Gupta. Shashij bagged AIR 31 with 330 marks out of 360 and Rushil bagged AIR 39. Both boys are students Sri Guru Gobind Singh Collegiate Public School, Sector 26, Chandigarh, and have been toppers throughout their school years. They had both scored a perfect 10 in the Class X board examinations.

Besides, Sarvesh Mehtani bagged AIR 55, Udhav Aggarwal got AIR 75 and Rachit Bansal bagged AIR 95.

Tanishq aims to study computer science at the IIT, Delhi. He has also been selected for the Orientation-cum-Selection Camp (OCSC) for Physics in 2017 in which only the top 35 students of the country were invited. He had also qualified for the second round of Physics, Chemistry and Astronomy Olympiads which are conducted by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education.

“Making it to the IITs is the dream of every science student. Having worked hard towards this goal, I was confident of scoring well in the JEE (Main). However, I am not celebrating yet. I am retuning to my studies with renewed focus for the JEE (Advanced),” said Shashij.

The result of the JEE (Main) was announced today.

Nearly 12 lakh students from the country tested their skills at the JEE (Main) that took place in three phases earlier this month. The exam was conducted in the offline mode on April 2 and in the online mode on April 8 and 9.

Over one lakh aspirants from the general category who have cleared this milestone will now appear for the JEE (Advanced) to compete for approximately 5,500 coveted IIT seats (general category).

Success mantra: Hard work, dedication
