Ludhiana, February 24

Even after two days of attack on a family at New Shimlapuri, in which 70-year-old Darshan was injured, victims alleged that the Daba police have been delaying the investigation deliberately as no FIR was being registered in the case.

Injured Darshan’s son Daljit Singh said since the day the attack took place, the police have been conducting investigation lethargically and no proper heed was being paid to register a case immediately.

“My father was admitted to the Civil Hospital. My father sustained some fractures and serious injuries on eyes and head. ASI Gurjeet Singh came to record the statement today. The police have been delaying the registration of FIR. We will approach Police Commissioner Jatinder Singh Aulakh for justice if the case is not registered,” Daljit said.

On February 22, a scuffle between children of two communities had turned ugly while they were playing at a park, following which over a dozen men, reportedly in an inebriated state, allegedly barged into a house at Street No. 4.5 in New Shimlapuri and attacked Darshan Singh and misbehaved with some women.

Investigating Officer ASI Gurjeet Singh said the statement of injured Darshan was recorded today and the police would now soon proceed to register an FIR. “The police will take action on merit in the case. Whosoever will be found guilty will have to face action,” Singh said.
