Don’t politicise Jor Mela: Jathedar

Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh today called upon the Sikh community to observe the martyrdom day of “Chhote Sahibzaade” at Fatehgarh Sahib in a simple manner.

He cautioned the political parties to abstain from giving political speeches and mudslinging on the occasion.

Addressing the media here, he said the martyrdom would be observed as Jor Mela at Fatehgarh Sahib from December 26. He asked the devotees to avoid installing Guru Granth Sahib under temporary canopies and tents as it violates maryada.

“Instead, the ‘parkash’ of Guru Granth Sahib should only be done at gurdwaras and sacred buildings during the occasion,” he directed. The Jathedar described the incident of a man from Bathinda claiming to be the incarnation of Guru Gobind Singh as unfortunate.
